Electronic weighing platform scales are also known as pallet scales or pallet weighers. They are used to weigh pallets, skips, containers and all manner of items in industry. They range, normally, from 300kg to 10,000kg. Platform sizes range from 800mm square to 2000mm square.
A well designed platform scale which is constructed from heavy duty materials with good quality components, will provide highly accurate results and years of service. This is true even though it is loaded by a forklift truck on a regular basis.
Variations of platform scales
There are different designs of platform scales to suit a particular applications:
- Platform Scales that are surface mounted or ones that sit on the ground are the most commonly used. These are usually loaded by a forklift truck.
- Below ground platform scales (or the platform flush) with the surrounding floor level. These have the advantage of being able to be loaded by a hand pallet truck, sack truck as well as a forklift truck. Below ground installations can also be designed, with consideration to point loading, to weigh a forklift truck and its load at the same time.
- Surface mounted, very low profile platform scales, that can weigh a hand pallet truck and its load simultaneously.
Depending on your site conditions and industry, the platform can be manufactured from mild steel with tool steel load cells for dry areas. Or all stainless steel with IP68 fully weld load cells to allow full wash down ability, even with high pressure hoses and cleaning chemicals.
Platform scales can also be approved for trade use. This allows selling of material by weight, to conform to current regulations.
