ADF’s range of axle weighing scales provide a solution for all industries, from one off checks to fully automated dynamic vehicle scales, without the driver leaving the cab.
There are two ways to weigh axles. ADF can supply either of these vehicle weighing solutions:
- Portable axle pads which can be picked up and moved by an operator. This allows the vehicles axles to be individually weighed. This would normally be used for occasional use.
- An in-ground axle weigher which vehicles can drive across at around 4 mph. Each axle is individually weighed to ensure no overloading prior to the vehicle travelling on UK roads. This system allows both manual and fully automated weighing with vehicle recognition. This does not need any driver input and therefore avoids operator errors. It also increases efficiency and speed
A vehicle can be within its maximum load limit but can still have an overloaded axle(s). Axle weighing avoids overloading vehicles, ensures that the cargo is evenly distributed and prevents imbalance which causes handling problems. A correctly loaded vehicle also makes sure that maintenance, and fuel costs are kept to the minimum. It can prevent any potential insurance and legal issues.
